WHAT WE DO

Care for the Child –Support for the Family

Working in partnership with a child's family, hospitals and community teams we can offer support for children from birth to 18.

We can support families by:

  • Transitional Care from hospital to home
  • Respite Care—including day/overnight
  • 24 hour crisis care and telephone contact
  • Children’s palliative care
  • Assistance in identifying and accessing support within local communities
  • A key worker will be assigned to each family
  • Practical support from birth
  • Facilitating in-home support
  • Parent training and support
  • A range of therapeutic interventions
  • Support and advice in relation to hospital appointments/admissions
  • On-going review of each child’s needs and services required
  • Day and overnight accommodation for families
  • Liaising with other agencies
  • Work with hospitals on discharge planning supporting medically compromised children (ie oxygen dependant, tracheostomy care, NG feeds etc)

Key Admission Criterion

Only children medically diagnosed with life limiting conditions will be admitted to The Children's Sunshine Home.

Our Team

Medical Director, Consultant Paediatrician, Nursing Team, Physiotherapists, Dietician, Social Worker, Speech & Language Therapist, Chaplain and Volunteers.
