Advertisers Inspired to create Christmas cards in memory of 15 Month Old Daniel.
- Every cent raised goes directly to charity -
12 of Ireland’s leading designers have put pen to paper for the third year in a row to create celebratory Christmas cards in memory of Daniel Farrell, a wonderful little boy who sadly died in 2007 aged just 15 months. The cards replicate the traditional 12 Days of Christmas theme, and have been generously created by industry friends of Daniel’s parents, John and Fiona Farrell.
These Christmas cards are the only charity cards on the market where every cent goes directly to the charity. All proceeds will go towards LauraLynn House, Ireland’s first Children’s Hospice, which is being built at the Children’s Sunshine Home, Leopardstown, Dublin 18. Work has already begun on the hospice and is expected to open early 2011.
This is the third year in a row that designers and agencies throughout Dublin have generously given their time, talent and resources in memory of Daniel. The cards were the idea of John Farrell in memory of his son Daniel and first created in 2007 after his untimely death. Daniel suffered from Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy (HOCM), a heart condition that causes the heart muscle to thicken and prevents blood being pumped around the body effectively. Without any prior warning or signs of ill-health, Daniel died in his sleep.
“Our precious Daniel died two years and six months ago. Losing a child is something we hope no-one need ever experience. Each year these cards continue his memory in some small way for us and remind us what a beautiful young boy he was. By creating the 12 Days of Christmas Card Collection, we are helping to give support to families when their child is sick or dying, and that is why we have chosen to support the LauraLynn House at the Children’s Sunshine Home in memory of Daniel”, said Fiona Farrell.
The Children’s Sunshine Home provides essential home-support, respite and end-of-life care to children, and families of children, with life-limiting conditions.
The cards, in packs of 12, are available now from the Children’s Sunshine Home or online at www.sunshinehome.ie, at a cost of €10 and all funds raised will go towards LauraLynn House.
