ABOUT US

Our Mission

The Children's Sunshine Home supports children with life limiting conditions and their families by providing high quality transitional care, home support, respite, crisis and end-of-life care.

Our services are available to children with high medical and nursing needs from birth to 18.

Our Vision: all children who need us, can access us.

Our History

  • Established in 1925 - short term convalescence
  • 1950's & 1960's admitted many very sick babies for treatment & convalescence
  • 1970's long term care of profoundly disabled children
  • 2002-2004 Strategic Review to address needs of children requiring palliative care
  • 2006 Expansion of the Children's Sunshine Home to incorporate LauraLynn House

Governance

Integrated Governance arrangements are in place representing best practice. The CSH ensures that the principles of clinical governance underpin the work of clinicians and that a cycle of continuous quality improvement is in place. Effective clinical and managerial leadership is key to the success of our strategy. The CSH works to identify the changing health needs of the population it serves and ensures that it engages an appropriately qualified workforce to meet these changing needs. Best practice in human resource planning is in place.
